Frisco TX West Nile Virus

by Mike Yeo on September 15, 2012

This summer the DFW area have seen quite a few cases of West Nile Virus. With the widespread of the West Nile Virus, the resident of Frisco TX has brought up their concerned to the city. During the Town Hall Meeting held on Monday 8/20/2012, the city of Frisco said that they are not participating in the aerial spraying. However, the ground spraying within the city are still being conducted.

The city reminded the Frisco resident to practice ‘The Four Ds’ which are precautionary measures promoted by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Four Ds are:

  • DRAIN all standing water (potted plants saucers, fountain, bird bath, open buckets);
  • DRESS in light colored long sleeve clothing when you are outdoor;
  • DEET. Use mosquito repellants that contain Deet;
  • DUSK OR DAWN. Avoid outdoor activities during these hours when possible. Mosquitoes are most active during dusk and dawn. If you have to be outdoor, remember to use repellant that contain DEET.
