Frisco TX snowed in

by Loreena Yeo on February 2, 2011

Many businesses and school closures these couple of days since the snow/ice/sleet came through on Tuesday 2/1/2011.

On Wednesday 2/2/2011, Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) are rolling blackouts throughout neighborhoods in Frisco TX. Severe weather  led to the loss of more than 50 generation units causing existing running generators to trip offline due to the extreme cold temperatures. Residents in Frisco TX are urged to conserve energy during this time to help reduce the load on the system.

It is not often that Frisco TX is in such cold extreme weather. The high on Wednesday (2/2) is 19 degrees F and with windchill, it feels like 7 F. On Wednesday night, temperatures will drop to 12 degree F.

Here in the Frisco Dallas metroplex area, many people are hosting their own Superbowl parties. Many of these have been postponed too.

Trash days on Tuesday and Wednesday have been halted. The trash guys tried to work on Wednesday but was quickly sent home because the icy roads did not help. At the moment, the City of Frisco is considering its next steps about trash days. Stay tune.

Stay warm, Frisco TX!
