If you have been in Frisco TX for a while, you would have heard of Exide Technologies. They have been a resident of Frisco TX for a while. With the growth in population of Frisco TX for the last 10 years, Exide Technologies have became a concern to the citizen.
The Frisco City Council, the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC), and the Frisco Community Development Corporation (FCDC), had approved the an agreement with Exide Technologies announced, this past summer, in which the FEDC and FCDC will purchase 180 undeveloped acres of land surrounding the Exide Frisco plant for $45 million. The term of the agreement also specify that Exide will cease its operation by the end of 2012.
Exide ceased it’s operation on December 1, 2012. They still retained the ownership of the 80 acres of the plant site where the removal and clean up of the plant is set to start. As part of the plan to clean up the plant, Exide has created a website for those who are seeking answers about the process.
Exide will also host a public meeting on Wednesday, December 12 at 7 p.m. at the Frisco Heritage Center’s Depot. The meeting will discuss about the schedule of the decontamination, demolition activities and question and answer session.
Don’t miss this meeting if you are wanting information about the shutdown of the recycling center.
