Christmas Tree Recycling Program for Frisco, Plano, McKinney & Allen TX

by Mike Yeo on January 1, 2011

Christmas have come and gone. As we get ready for the New Year, it’s time to take down the Christmas decorations including the Christmas tree. Let’s keep our Earth green. Participate in the Christmas tree recycling program instead of throwing your Christmas tree away. In the recycling program, these trees are grounded for compost.

If you live in Frisco TX, participate in the Frisco TX Christmas Tree recycling program. Pick up at curbside. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Remove supports, electrical wiring, ornaments, nails and tinsel.
  • Place tree at least three feet away from your trash and recycling carts on your regularly scheduled collection day.
  • Trees must be 5 feet and/or 60 lbs. or smaller. If the tree is over 5 feet or 60 lbs., it must be cut into sections less than 5 feet or less than 60 lbs.

Do not cover trees with a plastic bag. The trash man will not pick up. Also, flocked trees (trees with the white snow spray material) are not acceptable in this program. However, these flocked trees can be collected for a $10 charge by arranging pickup directly through C.W.D. at 972-392-9300.

If you live in a Frisco TX apartment or prefer to participate in the Do-It-Yourself disposal, it is also available for all trees at the Custer Road Transfer Station. Please bring utility bill and driver’s license to prove Frisco TX residency.

If you live in Plano TX, you can recycle your Christmas trees beginning January 4 2011. Remove all tree stand, lights and ornaments. For Plano apartment residents, you can recycle the Christmas trees between December 28 through January 8th 2010 at one of the drop-off locations:

Carpenter Recreation Center
6701 Coit Road
(north of Spring Creek Parkway and south of Legacy Drive,
in the far west parking lot)

High Point Park
6500 Alma Drive
(north of Spring Creek and south of Seabrook Drive)

Heritage Yards Ball Fields
4525 Hedgcoxe Road
(east of Coit Road and west of Ohio Drive)

If you live in McKinney TX, you can recycle your Christmas tree beginning January 4th for curbside pick up. Again, remove all ornaments and tree stand and place the raw tree at the curbside on trash day. Poinsettias and live garlands can be placed in paper trash bags and left at curbside for pick up also.

You can also drop off your Christmas tree and live Christmas garlands and Poinsettias starting December 26 at Al Ruschhaupt Soccer complex at 1986 Park View Ave, or at the water tower on Corner of Alma and Eldorado in the Gabe Nesbitt Community Park center.

If you live in Allen TX, you can participate in your Christmas tree recycling program starting December 26 2010 through January 8th 2011 on regular trash day for curbside pick up. Please place tree at least 2 feet from the trash cans.

Drop off location is at Custer Road Transfer station at 9901 Custer Road after January 8th, Monday through Saturday between 8am to 4:30pm. Must bring a copy of most recent utility bill and driver’s license to prove Allen TX residency.

Thank you for taking part in making our Earth green.
